Ariwa

,Ariwa' is a very robust, mildew and scab tolerant (scab resistant Rvi6) variety for fresh consumption with a good taste for commercial fruit growers as well as for private gardens. The aromatic fruits are even easy to store in the cellar, if consumed freshly may remind a little of the variety ,Gala' and are a good choice for baking purposes due to the firm flesh.

mid/end September ready to pick, from October ready to eat; can be stored well: in natural storage by the end of December, in cold storage by the end of March

Appearance:

mid-size, spherical, slightly high-built, somewhat irregular. Bright orange-red fruit skin, lightly marbled to striped on a green-yellow basis.

Quality:

yellowish-white flesh, very firm and juicy

Taste:

harmonious, somewhat like ,Gala'

Crop yield:

early yields, good and high yields

Special notes:

resilient to scab (scab resistant Rvi6) and mildew; thinning is recommended; so far no cancer; recommended by the Landratsamt Ortenaukreis for meadow orchards and for gardens
