Bellamira

,Bellamira' is an unusually large, bursting resistant and very aromatic mirabelle hybrid that is convincing due to its aroma either just picked and consumed fresh from the tree or as pie topping and brandy. For purposes of distillation the mirabelle should remain on the tree a little bit longer - in the past Oechsle degrees up to 130° could be reached (LWG Veitshöchheim).

Growth:

strongly growing, hanging fruit wood

self-fertile

Ripeness:

mid-August to mid-September, up to 10 days before ,Mirabelle von Nancy' - depending on year and region

Appearance:

large, golden yellow, reddish-dotted at its sun-exposed side, round-oval

Quality:

firm, juicy, can be removed from the stone, golden yellow flesh

Taste:

sweety with a delicate flavor of greengages

Crop yield:

very early onsetting and high yield

Special notes:

robust against Monilia, russet and aphids, despite good crop (extensive crop) fruits are much larger and more aromatic than the classic fruit varieties
