Hilde

Hilde is a frost-hard apricot, found in the late eigthies, used as column, even in small gardens if cut regularly .

Growth:

Growth is relatively strong, with thin shoots, medium dense branching. If cut, columnar shape is possible, otherwise rather spherical crown; good ability to regenerate after cutting measures.

Ripeness:

July, harvest shortly before being ripe for consumption

Color:

Basic colour orange-red; body colour blood-red (approx. 75 – 90% extensively and sprayed), bright luminious red when fully ripe

Appearance:

large to very large fruits, fruit shap flattened, longish, slightly pointed. very low hairy fruit skin

Quality:

fruit pulp firm (to the bite), juicy; very low tendency to burst in semi-ripe and ripe condition of fruits

Taste:

distinct apricot flavour, fully ripe fruit pulp juicy and with strong flavour; bitter almond

Crop yield:

early onsetting, medium to very high

Special notes:

All diluvial habitats with deeper marly bands and favorable topographical position; dessert product; cultivation in direct marketing firms, winterfrost-hard, no wood frost damages in the period 1992 to 2004; high tolerance to frosts in late winter.
