Mino

Mino is a very frost-hard apricot variety with very large, aromatic fruits, which also remain firm (to the bite) when fully ripe, reriping process after hard-ripe harvesting, without getting floury.

Growth:

Strong growth, very thick-stemmed, low branching density, high-striving crown in growth type of the 'Frühe Magdeburger' (Early Magdeburgers)

Ripeness:

end of July until mid-August

Color:

basic colour yellow-orange, body colour blood-red; approx. 25-50% sprayed and marked marbled

Appearance:

Fruits large to very large, usually above 60 mm fruit diameter. Fruits slightly pointed, fruit skin slightly felty-haired.

Quality:

juicy fruits mit very low tendency for bursting in semi-ripe and ripe condition

Taste:

strong aroma, comparable with the mother variety 'Magdeburger Frühe' (Early Magdeburgers), almond sweet with slight bitter note

Crop yield:

early onsetting, medium to very high, regular even at higher tree forms because of minimized late frost effect

Special notes:

Despite high infection pressure no Sharka- (plum pox virus) infection, low susceptibility to Monilia shoot infections.
Suitable for all diluvial sites with deeper located marly bands and favorable topographical positon; winterfrost-hard up to -28°C, no wood frost damages in said temperature range (1986-2004).
