Raspberries

For a fine velvet delicious treat: what raspberries need!

To ensure a good thriving of the fine and generous berries it is important to consider their special needs when preparing the ground for planting. Raspberries love soils rich in humus with a good depth and a pH-value between 5 and 6,5 which guarantee a steady water supply with an air volume as high as possible. Grounds with soil compaction which in the worst case prevent the water circulation between the soil surface and the subsoil resulting in harmful accumulation of wetness should be avoided. When preparing the ground loosen up the rooting zone as deep as necessary to break any compactions. It is also recommended to plant on a mound bed: fill up an 80 cm wide planting strip with soil rich in humus to a 30 to 40 cm high mound.
