Whitewash to prevent frost damages

so, let’s start painting!

It seems to be quite unusual but it is an effective step: the whitewash protects fruit trees against frost cracks of the bark. In the cold winter months tree and soil might freeze in the night because of the low temperatures. During the day the sun warms up the soil sufficiently for the saps to rise up. This can cause frost cracks and spallings of the bark.
