After harvest:

The right storage of fruits

In August it is harvest time for soft fruits like blackberries, gooseberries, raspberries and currants and for tree fruits like apples, pears, plums and quinces. Upon harvesting the gardener should be careful with the fruits, bruising should be avoided. The ideal storage place for fruits is a dark, cool, frost-free and dampish cellar room. But take care it does not become too moist as this enhances mood growth. Fruits like plums may be preserved by freezing and canning.
